We were so heartbroken last December when our little Maggie had to be put down (at 15 years old) for kidney failure just a few days before Christmas. My eyes were swollen shut for 3 days from all the crying. Losing Louie a few years ago was one of the most difficult things I’d ever been through – until I lost Mags. I am now dog-less for the first time in 16 years – and I must say, it SUCKS! The house is like a damn morgue – especially when you come home and there is no little fuzzy to greet you. We need a puppy BAD.
At the end of January I started searching for reputable breeders in my area through the Cairn Terrier Club of America. I found a championship line kennel in San Diego with a beautiful property, but they didn’t know when they would be having the next litter. I was discouraged at the lack of good breeders in Southern California, but then in late February, I found a breeder in Arizona who was having a litter in early March – Woohoo! Score! We are more than willing to drive to Arizona for a new pucky! “Pucky” is what Dale says instead of “Puppy”. It is too cute, it has stuck, and now I say “Pucky” too. LOL. The poor dog will be called everything but it’s name, I’m sure.
Let me just say that it is really hard to WAIT. The puckies were due March 7, and starting that morning, and every morning until yesterday, Dale would ask “Have you heard about the puckies yet?” Someone has puppy fever. 🙂 Finally I got an email on March 10 saying the pups were born in the early morning on Sunday, March 6 – and would I still like one? Umm…HELLZ YA! I immediately jumped up out of my chair, threw my arms up in the air and yelled “YES!!”. We have reserved a little girl, and will be road-tripping to Arizona around May 1st to pick up our little bundle of joy. I wonder which one will be ours!?!
