Welcome to the lovely colors of my spring blooms! I’ve always hated gardening – or so I thought. It turns out that what I actually hate is yard work, gardening is kinda cool. I didn’t realize until I moved to California just how much I loved flowers and color. I have flowers EVERYWHERE now – even fake ones because they make me happy. I know, how ‘girlie’ of me. Who knew?
Last year was all about tomatoes, peppers and herbs; this year is all about jasmine, lavender, roses, plumeria, strawberries and succulents! Dale got me an agave plant for Christmas (because I killed my little palm tree – oops) and now I have gone succulent crazy. I even have ALOE – which my mom used to pronounce as A-LOW. Think J-LO and you have it. So ‘aloe’ will forever be ‘A-low’ now. It is important you know these things.
I don’t know what all of these plants are called – but they are lovely nonetheless, and my yard is looking so vibrant and alive right now despite the drought. Speaking of the drought, I only have my sprinklers turn on for 3 minutes at a time, 2 times a week (what’s the point, right?) – BUT I have 3 stations of sprinklers, so it APPEARS as though I have the sprinklers come on 3 separate times in the same day, but really it is just watering different areas that happen to be side-by-side. SO, my nosy little neighbors (I don’t know which ones, but I have my suspicions) left me notes on two different occasions chastising my ‘waste of water’. Really, people?
Anyway, I thought you might enjoy a little photo gallery of my garden:
