Here we are again with Gina Louise and her fabulous Bling Box! It’s time to review July and September of 2016. I did not get a box in August because I had to switch to bi-monthly (every other month). I was going completely insane getting so many boxes, not to mention the wad of cash I was shelling out! I had to scale things back a bit and about half of my box subscriptions got the axe – not because they were bad, but because I had to choose one or two boxes per category MAX. Except for books. I can’t seem to make a decision on those…gah! I scaled those down by one box per genre instead – lol! Boxes were coming every day (I have a problem), and when you are a reviewer, before you open anything, you must get the camera and staging area ready and take photos of the un-boxing which can take up to an hour per box. I don’t have 2 to 4 hours a day for that! Now that I have things more under control I’m hoping to be able to post more often. I just couldn’t keep up, darlings. For the clothing box category, the Gina Louise Bling Box made the cut! Her boxes are always so beautiful and full of fun, quality items. Plus, I love her. 🙂
The Gina Louise Bling Box is a monthly, bi-monthly or one-time box. The auto-renewing subscription charge is $49 up front (the styling fee), but that amount is taken off of any item(s) you decide to keep at the end. You have 3 days to decide, but if you choose not to keep any items, the styling fee is not refunded. The upfront charge goes down to $20 a month after 3 months of membership. Each Bling Box will contain 3 to 8 items of designer apparel, jewelry, accessories, beauty items, and sometimes home goods; all with a BOHO/Vintage feel to them. The items are discounted at lower-than-retail prices (even if you don’t keep everything) however if you DO decide to keep the whole box, you get an additional 20% off! When you begin a subscription, you fill out a very detailed style profile so that your stylist can curate the perfect box for you. Keep in mind that this review has boxes curated to MY style preferences, so your box may contain completely different items! For more details on this subscription, please see my first review here.

Gina Louise Bling Box Review, July 2016
The big box with the pretty tape and Gina Louise business card. Since I’ve lost 100 pounds, (OK, 85 because I’ve gained 15 back over the course of the year) getting a quality clothing box was high on my priority list! I basically needed a completely new wardrobe, and I wasn’t doing so hot on my own. I tend to pick out the same items over and over again, so Gina is helping me step out of my comfort zone and try some new styles! So far I’m loving every bit of it!
I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun it is for me to open a new box of clothes! For many years I didn’t shop AT ALL because I hated my body, my life and pretty much myself. It’s amazing what happens when you are unchained and set free…
So this is the July Box, and the theme is “Let’s Sparkle for the 4th”! I love the 4th, and Dale and I always do something fun (like set off illegal fireworks) and of course eat yummy BBQ food. My Bling Box had all the necessary items to make me look all glam for the day’s festivities.
The best thing (for me) about this box is how personal it is. Gina gets to know you and she does incredible things like this: she made me a fancy-pants bookmark! She knows I’m a writer (and a reader who gets too many goddamned book boxes), so this was an extra special little gift that (no shit) brought me to tears. I’m not so much a badass, I’m more of a sappy-ass with a potty mouth. I can’t help it, blame my mother. Or menopause. Or both.
Here it is looking lovely hanging out of my new “Girlboss” book by Sophia Amoruso. Awesome book, btw.
Close-up of the bling. I love pink too, it is one of my favorite colors because it looks so good with all the black that I wear. It also gives me a slight feminine touch to go with my over-production of testosterone.
I love love LOVE this bracelet! Let’s forget for a moment how pretty and trendy it is – let’s focus on the fact that it is ‘springy’ and not too tight! Bracelets are tough for me; I dig them, but they hardly ever fit my thick-ass wrists. So many women complain about their tiny wrists. Give me a break – wanna trade?? I can punch through walls (and your face if you piss me off), but delicate jewelry? Nope. So this is a big keep!
Here is the underside – love the little balls on the end. Did I just say that?
Here is the (very appropriate for the 4th) red, white and blue stars & stripes scarf/sarong/wrap thingee! I’m not 100% sure how to wear this, so I just threw it over my shoulders as a patriotic wrap. When I’m not wearing it, I drape it over my lamp in the bedroom. It kind of has a Southwest flair to it on the stripes which makes it unique and fun! It is also HUGE. I have a pool, so this will get used as a sarong to go over my bathing suit as well.
Keep!
Lots of accessories this month! These sunnies are cute and feminine and not too big for my narrow face, so KEEP!
A handmade 4th of July Necklace! I don’t have anything even remotely close to this in my jewelry stash, so it is a keep! I like that it comes as one long strand; it gives it so many styling choices! The beads/pearls are nice quality, too – the necklace is pretty heavy!
Just a few different ways you can wear it!
It goes great with the Happy Rebel Box Black Lace Kimono! I think I’ve worn my hair up every single day this summer.
The shoes. OMG. The first thing that went through my head? “Toto…I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!” LOL! I have a Cairn Terrier, so it was just too entirely perfect. I know the shoes are blue and not red, but COME ON! How could I not keep these?!? Jack agreed. My little pup who has no sense of personal space.
Yes, I’m aware the pants don’t go with the shoes and that for some reason I had ‘cankles’ that day, but whatever. I’m clicking my heels together like Dorothy in case you couldn’t tell…
When I first saw this piece, I wasn’t all that thrilled with the pattern, but tried it on anyways. I have to say it looks MUCH better on me than I thought it would! It is very flattering for a print – the angles are unique and because the material is thin and is tight on the arms, it doesn’t look too bulky. I decided to keep it – it is a Gina Louise original! It is long enough on me to wear as a dress, and it also looks good as a tunic over capri-style leggings or tights!
This top is made of a super soft rayon-like material, and who doesn’t like tie-dye for the summer in California?!? Another keep. I live in stretch pants, so I’m pretty much good with any long t-shirt or tunic top.
The next item was a pair of leggings that I figured would be a big-duh of a keep since leggings are such a main staple in my wardrobe, but they were too tight and accentuated the cottage cheese in my thighs. They were also a little see-through on me, which is a big no-no. 🙁
The feather bead detail (think peacock) is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. I was so bummed these had to go back.
These white capri jeans on the other hand were perfect! Fit great, and look great on! I didn’t have any white jeans either, so I was thrilled to receive these.
This top is also a Gina Louise original design – and so cute and feminine! Unfortunately it was too small on me. Damn boobs again.
The stitching detail is amazing.
Here is my invoice with the styling fee deducted and the 20% discount deduction for keeping it all. I had to send two items back so I didn’t qualify for the 20% off, but it was all still very reasonably priced and I was thrilled with all the other items! Another win for my Gina Louise Bling Box! Gina Louise Bling Box Review, September 2016
I was going through withdrawal after having to skip a month, but here is the box with the pink tissue paper again, hooray!
A bag and pre-paid label is included in the boxes for easy (and free!) returns.
There is usually a personal note in each box, and the jewelry always comes in either a little bag or box.
This necklace is looooong!! It is a cute little amber-colored glass acorn with gold details. It is a nice piece, especially for fall, but it isn’t quite my style so I decided to send this one back.
Here is a close-up of the details.
This black kimono wrap with white lace is really pretty on and I love it! It can be dressed up or down – it looks great with slacks or jeans!
I don’t usually look good in fitted waist tops, but this one is an exception. It is soft and stretchy, and because the bottom half is pleated, it is flattering on. The color is great, too, and it seems to be all the rage this fall. Also, I just received some cobalt blue Kendra Scott earrings as an add-on in my FABFITFUN box that will match it PERFECTLY!
It’s a Gina Louise design, too! She is very talented.
My first fall sweater! I adore the rusty brown-orange color, and it is super comfy and just light enough for Southern California.
I was so excited when I saw this top! The Italian-like stripes are so cool, and the design is unique and trendy. Unfortunately, the arms were way too tight on me and I couldn’t get it on for fear that I would rip it. Talk about being bummed out!
I actually thought about having the arms tailored, but it would probably cost more to have that done than the top is worth, so I very reluctantly sent it back. Whaaaaa! 🙁
Another awesome fall color – olive green! These ‘skinny’ jeans are form-fitting with black leather detail around the front pockets. Although they were a size bigger than I normally wear, they were still just a bit too tight in the waist. Obviously they run small. They gave me an EPIC muffin top – LOL! I was super upset that these didn’t fit either; but I can be really hard to fit. It’s a total shame because I thought these would make a great addition to my new wardrobe!
I clapped my hands when I saw these! I have wanted a pair for SO LONG! I saw this style on Pinterest awhile ago and pinned it to my wish list, but never found any under $300 that I liked – UNTIL NOW! I was so glad she sent them to me in black, too! These can be dressed up or down. Love and keepsies!
I’m not entirely sure how to tie these around my ankes, I’ll have to practice!
Look at all the pretty things! This is probably one of my favorite Gina Louise Bling Boxes to date. Even though I had a couple of send-backs, I still feel like I made out like a bandit with 3 tops and a pair of shoes!
Here is my invoice. I am never upset with the pricing; I feel the quality is there and everything is affordable. Let me know what you think, and don’t forget to check back in November for my next Gina Louise Bling Box review!
