The January 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box! I want to note that you only get the free ‘Big Bonus Box’ with your first box, and then with every 6th box – which I have to say is a phenomenal perk! The oils are packed really nicely in sturdy cardboard pockets to decrease the chances of spillage or breakage.

On the backs of the recipe cards are notes and additional information about the box. This is a note from Katie – a recipe formulator and certified aromatherapist. Sick of putting harsh, dangerous chemicals under your arms each morning? Simply Earth has created a blend of essential oils that can eliminate your body odor – naturally! This is a lovely and sweet-smelling blend of Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Lavender, and Sweet Orange. It can be used anywhere on the body to eliminate odors, but I’ve found it helpful to dab under each breast before starting my day.
Cautions: This oil is safe for kids (10+), but is NOT safe for use during breastfeeding and pregnancy, nor is it safe for dogs/cats. An additional safety tip: it may inhibit blood clotting.
Simply Earth Camphor Essential Oil (15 mL) – Retail Value $11.99
Camphor Essential Oil is perfect for those who need help dealing with aches and pains in their joints. It was introduced in Madagascar in the middle of the nineteenth century and now grows wild in the central region of Asia. Boy, do I need this one!! I just turned 49, and my joints are in bad shape. I LOVE the smell of camphor and I would literally bathe in it if I could afford to – LOL! It also helps to clear the lungs, and repels insects. This oil is in my top 10 for sure!
Cautions: This oil is safe for kids (10+), however it is NOT recommended for using during breastfeeding or pregnancy, nor is it safe for dogs or cats. There is a special Dilution Rate: 5% (or less), and should be diluted before use. For external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided. Shelf life of 1-2 years.
Simply Earth Lemon Essential Oil (15 mL) – Retail Value $9.99
Lemon oil has been historically recognized as a cleanser. It reached the height of its fame when the British Navy used lemon to counteract the effects of scurvy. This citrus fruit is also energizing, cooling, and promotes mental clarity. This is another oil that belongs in your top 10 because it is so versatile! The scent is pleasant and happy, and loved by most everyone – me included!
Cautions: This oil is safe for kids (2+), and is safe for use during breastfeeding or pregnancy, as well as for dogs, but NOT cats. The special Dilution Rate is 5% or less, and is phototoxic when used on the skin at dilution rates higher than 2.5% (12 drops/ounce carrier oil). Storage life up to 2 years.
Simply Earth Ylang Ylang Essential Oil (15 mL) – Retail Value $18.99
Ylang-ylang Essential Oil can help relieve sore muscles while at the same time giving a relaxing and sensual effect. It also has a soothing effect on the skin, and smells absolutely DIVINE! Ylang Ylang is one of my favorite essential oil scents; there is just something about it’s sweetness that keeps me sniffing it all day long. 🙂 It pairs well with Camphor for a joint & sore muscle relief blend!
Cautions: This oil is safe for kids (10+), and is safe for use during breastfeeding or pregnancy, but NOT for dogs/cats. It has a special dilution rate of 0.5% (or less), with possible skin sensitization. Recommended at a maximum dilution of 0.5% for topical applications.

Simply Earth Happy Dance Diffuser Blend Recipe Card

Diffuser blend recipes are included every month, and if you are a fan, the recipe includes a master blend you can make to have on hand. The recipe card gives you the ingredient amounts you need to put directly into you diffuser, as well as for a master blend. The bonus box includes (6) 5 ml bottles so that you can make master blends each month if you choose.
I adore this blend of Ylang Ylang, Camphor and Lemon, so I created the master bottle blend to keep next to my diffuser!
The label sheet provided even comes with the round bottle stickers for the month’s recipes! Super convenient.
Simply Earth Soothing Zinc Body Butter Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Soothing Zinc Body Butter
Body butters, balms and salves are my FAVORITE projects to make, and they make excellent gifts for friends & family. I get requests *constantly* for pain relief blends! This recipe called for the (solid) coconut oil and almond oil from the Bonus Box that you receive with your first box, and every sixth box, and the jar in the photo was one I already had. You could use Tupperware, or any left over jar you have on hand, OR, a container you used/saved from a previous Simply Earth box.
You can use a double boiler (as shown) to melt the coconut oil, or you can create your own by putting the oil inside of a glass jar placed inside of a cooking pan with an inch or so of water in it. If you think you might be a long time subscriber, or enjoy doing aromatherapy/spa DIY projects, I would highly recommend investing in a double boiler – they are pretty inexpensive on Amazon or at Target.
After mixing all of the ingredients listed on the recipe card, and letting it cool a bit, I used a whisk mixer to whip it into a butter.
The result! Soft and soothing, and smells great. The best part, though? It’s EFFECTIVE! I’m currently using this on my knees for stiff joints.
Pretty with the label! I kept this one for myself, and plan on making some more. 🙂
Simply Earth Sunshine Body Wash Recipe Card

I love me some body wash, and this recipe couldn’t be any easier! I happen to like the essential oil blend of Lemon and Ylang Ylang per the recipe, but you could potentially use any blend you like! Just add the oils to the base, shake, and DONE! Because the bottle of base already had a label on it, I didn’t put the peel-off custom label on it, but if you decided to put it into a different container, you could use it on that. The bottle is the perfect size for travel, too!
Simply Earth B.O. Emergency Back Up Roll On Recipe Card

Each month there is a recipe for a roll-on, and this month’s roll-on is for removing B.O. as a backup plan! It’s a good one to throw into your purse or gym bag! Not that anyone can go to a gym right now – ugh. This recipe also requires items from the bonus box – fractionated coconut oil and a glass roller.
These are so easy to make – just put the suggested number of drops of essential oil into the bottle, then fill with the rest of the way up with fractionated (MCT) coconut oil and shake. 30 seconds, tops! The blend smells SO GOOD too – I’m a big fan! Simply Earth comes up with some great blends.
To use, roll onto the pulse points (wrists, neck, back of knees), but make sure to test on the back on the hand first.
Simply Earth B.O. Be Gone Natural Deodorant Recipe Card
Recipe Project: B.O. Be Gone Natural Deodorant
This recipe has the most ingredients, and is the most extensive to make; although still pretty simple! It calls for the (solid) coconut oil and beeswax from the bonus box, and baking soda and corn starch from your own kitchen.
First you melt the coconut oil and beeswax…
…then mix in the zinc oxide powder, essential oil blend, corn starch and baking soda in a glass bowl or cup and stir into a paste.
Lastly, pour the mixture into the container and let cool into a solid before putting on the lid.
Ta-Da! Natural Deodorant! Smells great, and works great! Here is the article that Simply Earth created for this deodorant in their blog. It will explain everything!
Simply Earth Oil Pull Mouth Rinse Recipe Card

I just had some pretty extensive dental work done, so I put off trying this recipe immediately, BUT I’m interesting in trying this later! I found an article here that discusses the benefit of using coconut oil as a mouth rinse. It is an increasingly popular way to rid your mouth of harmful bacteria. Apparently, “oil pulling” is an ancient, Indian folk remedy claimed to whiten your teeth, freshen your breath and greatly improve your oral health. Interesting!
So what do you think of the January 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box? I’m starting off my year naturally! I am consistently impressed by the quality and usability of this subscription at such a reasonable price. The total (current) retail value of the essential oils ALONE in this box is $53.96, and that doesn’t even include the deodorant container, the body wash base, the zinc oxide powder, the recipe cards or the labels! I think that is pretty amazing for $39.99! That really is a HUGE value comparatively to other essential oils out there of equal quality, and it is so handy to be able to make so many different recipes without having to buy a bunch of additional expensive ingredients.
This subscription is a great way to learn and build up an essential oil collection that isn’t so overwhelming, and I look forward to getting it every time! IMHO you absolutely can’t go wrong if you enjoy essential oils and DIY projects.
