The September 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box! I want to note that you only get the free ‘Big Bonus Box’ with your first box, and then with every 6th box – which I have to say is a phenomenal perk! The oils are packed really nicely in sturdy cardboard pockets to decrease the chances of spillage or breakage.
Each monthly box comes with 4 essential oils + 6 recipe cards, and additional items to complete the recipes. Quite impressive for the low cost of the box! Simply Earth is able to cut out the middle-man and work directly with the farmers to give you a more affordable value. This month is themed “CANDLE-MAKING BOX”.
On the backs of the recipe cards are notes and additional information about the box. This is a note from Katie – a recipe formulator and certified aromatherapist. This month she talks about the theme of the box, and includes blends that are inspired by the coziness of Fall. There is nothing like a candle to create a dreamy atmosphere!

Simply Earth ‘Sweet Memories’ Roll-On Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Sweet Memories Roll On
Each month there is a recipe for a roll-on, and this month’s roll-on is for making all the sweet memories! Roll-on bottle blends are great for keeping in my purse or car. This recipe requires items from the bonus box – fractionated coconut oil and a glass roller.
This roller has such a pleasant aroma! The blood orange has a ‘happy’ edge to it, and the Sweet Dreams blend adds an ‘earthy’ and slightly sweet scent. Very nice!
These glass rollers come with steel roller balls – which are much better than the plastic ones you sometimes see. To use, roll onto the pulse points (wrists, neck, back of knees), but make sure to test on the back on the hand first.
Simply Earth ‘Autumn Days’ Diffuser Blend Recipe Card

Diffuser blend recipes are included every month, and if you are a fan, the recipe includes a master blend you can make to have on hand. The recipe card gives you the ingredient amounts you need to put directly into you diffuser, as well as for a master blend. The bonus box includes (6) 5 ml bottles so that you can make master blends each month if you choose.
Wow! If this diffuser blend doesn’t get you in the mood for Fall, I don’t know what will! It made me want to bake – lol! I love, love, LOVE the coffee essential oil!
Simply Earth DIY Fall Scented Pinecones Recipe Card
Recipe Project: DIY Fall Scented Pinecones
You’ll need to gather (or buy) some pinecones!
I am super lazy, so I went to the craft store and picked out some already-dried pinecones for this project. Pinecones are not too abundant here down by the beach in Southern California, unfortunately. I chose some larger ones so that I can put them on my fireplace mantle! So, getting to skip the drying steps on the recipe card, all I had to do was add the essential oils and place the cones into a large Ziplock bag and let them dry.
Ready to go! They smell absolutely delicious, and now my Fall decorating has begun!
Simply Earth Citrus Wax Sachet Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Citrus Wax Sachet
You’ll need the beeswax from the bonus box, and some dried oranges or flowers for this project.
This is such a cool idea, and the beeswax dries really quickly.
I like the way this turned out, however I did get some bubbling from putting the orange slice in the mold before pouring the wax in. TIP: I think if I pour the wax in first, THEN place the orange slice into the wax, I won’t get the bubbling. Live & learn.
Simply Earth Sweet Dreams Floral Candle Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Sweet Dreams Floral Candle
You’ll need the beeswax and solid coconut oil from the bonus box, plus a small glass or votive and dried flower (if you choose) for this project.
I used a double boiler to melt the coconut oils together (pictured). Double boilers are cheap and I highly recommend getting one for making balms, salves and lotions.
Here is the dipped-in-wax wick placed on the bottom of the glass.
Pretty! I decided to make a ‘double batch’ so that I could make a full-sized candle in the glass I chose. It turned out so well! This is the very first wax candle I’ve ever made! Wheeee!

This project requires the beeswax and solid coconut oil from the bonus box. Unfortunately, I used up ALL of the soy wax provided in the box to make the floral candle, so I didn’t have any left for this project, BUT I ordered some more wax from the Simply Earth store, so I’ll be able to make it in a few days!
So what do you think of the September 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box? My favorite project this month was the Sweet Dreams Floral Candle! It turned out so nice, and was the perfect birthday gift for my Godmother. I look forward to my box each month, and I am consistently impressed by the quality and usability of this subscription at such a reasonable price. I was not able to come up with a total retail value this month because some of the items are not yet available in their store, but just the oils and the wax alone came to $49.62 – which exceeds the cost of the box for $39.99! All of this is a HUGE value comparatively to other essential oils out there of equal quality, and it is so handy to be able to make so many different recipes without having to buy a bunch of additional expensive ingredients.
This subscription is a great way to learn and build up an essential oil collection that isn’t so overwhelming, and the recipes are so easy & fun! IMHO you absolutely can’t go wrong if you enjoy essential oils and DIY projects.
