Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box Review, October 2021
The October 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box! I want to note that you only get the free ‘Big Bonus Box’ with your first box, and then with every 6th box – which I have to say is a phenomenal perk! The oils are packed really nicely in sturdy cardboard pockets to decrease the chances of spillage or breakage.
Each monthly box comes with 4 essential oils + 6 recipe cards, and additional items to complete the recipes. Quite impressive for the low cost of the box! On the backs of the recipe cards are notes and additional information about the box. This is a note from Katie – a recipe formulator and certified aromatherapist. Menthol Crystals are da bomb! They melt very easily, and create a very soothing & cooling affect when mixed with carrier oils. They are also fabulous as a respiratory aid. They do smell medicinal, but I love that aroma!

These tablets dissolve in water and essential oils for use in cleaning. I can’t wait to see how it works!

Each recipe can be made in just a few minutes (nothing too extreme, here). Each month your box will come with 6 new recipes. I’ve got a HUGE collection now, and love making them over & over!
Simply Earth ‘Stomach Soother’ Roll-On Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Stomach Soother Roll On
Each month there is a recipe for a roll-on, and this month’s roll-on is for tummy aches! Roll-on bottle blends are great for travel and/or keeping on your bedside table. This recipe requires items from the bonus box – fractionated coconut oil and a glass roller.
This is a very interesting blend, and the scents that stuck out most to me were the Aniseed in the ‘Digest’ blend, and the Fir Needle. Aniseed smells a lot like black licorice, which is fine for me, but Dale doesn’t care for it, so I may have to modify it with other oils leaving the Aniseed out. Oh well!
These glass rollers come with steel roller balls – which are much better than the plastic ones you sometimes see. To use, roll onto the pulse points (wrists, neck, back of knees), but make sure to test on the back on the hand first.
Simply Earth ‘Clear the Air’ Diffuser Blend Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Clear the Air Diffuser (Master) Blend
Diffuser blend recipes are included every month, and if you are a fan, the recipe includes a master blend you can make to have on hand. The recipe card gives you the ingredient amounts you need to put directly into you diffuser, as well as for a master blend. The bonus box includes (6) 5 ml bottles so that you can make master blends each month if you choose.
Since Dale doesn’t care for the ‘Digest Blend’, I just used the Eucalyptus, Cajeput and Fir Needle Essential Oils for this project, and it smells wonderful! Although I can’t review the recipe in full (as printed) here, I have to say my sinuses have never felt better. This will be a great blend for our breathing and immune system this Fall.
Simply Earth Multipurpose Cleaning Spray Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Multipurpose Cleaning Spray
You will need a 16 oz. spray bottle for this project. I have this fancy-pants one that I wasn’t using, so it was perfect!
OMG, this stuff works GREAT! Again, I didn’t use the ‘Digest Blend’, but I substituted the Cajeput instead since I loved the diffuser blend, and I’m super happy with it. I hope they stock these cleaning tablets in their store, because it is the perfect cleaner for my kitchen breakfast nook after meals! I keep it by the kitchen sink and find myself reaching for it all the time.
Simply Earth Cooling Massage Oil Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Cooling Massage Oil
You will need the fractionated coconut oil from the bonus box for this project.
Let me start by saying I’m gonna need a gallon of this stuff! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this massage oil, and I’ve already gone through this batch. It packs a punch – similar to ‘icy hot’ cream, but better and natural. The bottle is so darn cute, but I wish it was bigger! I do recommend getting a tiny funnel to fill it; the opening at the top is quite small, and it’s pretty easy to spill down the sides if you don’t have a funnel.
Simply Earth Menthol Shower Steamers Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Menthol Shower Steamers
You will need an ice cube tray or small silicone mold, the (solid) coconut oil from the bonus box, and baking soda for this project.
After melting the coconut oil and menthol crystals in a double boiler, you just add in the essential oils and stir in the baking soda. Stuff the paste into an ice tray or mold and let sit until hardened. I was able to make 3 shower steamers! Can’t wait to use them.
I let them sit overnight so that they would come out of the tray more easily. I was successful with two, and broke the third one. The good news is, I just wrapped the third one up in plastic wrap and will still be able to use it.
Perfect size.
Simply Earth Menthol Chest Rub Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Menthol Chest Rub
You will need the beeswax, coconut oil (solid) and almond oil from the bonus box, and a 2 oz. jar for this project.
I used a double boiler to melt the coconut oil, menthol and beeswax together (pictured). Double boilers are cheap and I highly recommend getting one for making balms, salves and lotions.
Salve, balms & rubs are my absolute favorite projects! I use them pretty much every day – and this particular blend is great because I am the QUEEN of aches & pains. The menthol truly soothes my muscles, joints and skin. I love it! This is how it looks right out of the double boiler before it has cooled down.
It takes about an hour to fully cool, and glides on smoothly. Have I mentioned how much I love the scent of menthol, eucalyptus and fir needle together?!?
Beautiful and oh so useful & effective! I can’t live without this.
So what do you think of the October 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box? My favorite project this month was the Menthol Chest Rub! Salves, balms and rubs are so fun to make, and are the projects I get the most use out of. They are also everyone’s favorite gifts! I look forward to my box each month, and I am consistently impressed by the quality and usability of this subscription at such a reasonable price. The total retail value this month came to $63.92 – which far exceeds the cost of the box for $39.99! All of this is a HUGE value comparatively to other essential oils out there of equal quality, and it is so handy to be able to make so many different recipes without having to buy a bunch of additional expensive ingredients.
This subscription is a great way to learn and build up an essential oil collection that isn’t so overwhelming, and the recipes are so easy & fun! IMHO you absolutely can’t go wrong if you enjoy essential oils and DIY projects.
