Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box Review, June 2021
The June 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box! I want to note that you only get the free ‘Big Bonus Box’ with your first box, and then with every 6th box – which I have to say is a phenomenal perk! The Big Bonus Box includes additional supplies needed to make the recipes in the subsequent boxes, and you can see my review of it here.
Once subscribed/ordered, your box generally ships the next day and and will arrive 2-3 business days after that. Your next box will be billed and shipped on the same day you placed your first order in. You can cancel any time, or skip a box.
Ketchup & Ranch do a splendid job of packing the boxes!
The oils are packed really nicely in sturdy cardboard pockets to decrease the chances of spillage or breakage.
Each monthly box comes with 4 essential oils + 6 recipe cards, and additional items to complete the recipes. Quite impressive for the low cost of the box! Simply Earth is able to cut out the middle-man and work directly with the farmers to give you a more affordable value. This month is themed “SUMMER GARDEN”.
On the backs of the recipe cards are notes and additional information about the box. This is a note from Katie – a recipe formulator and certified aromatherapist. This month she talks about the theme of the box, and how its inspiration was derived from the idea of a summer evening spent in the garden – which was chosen by recipe box subscribers!

Simply Earth ‘Bug Off’ Roll-On Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Bug Off Roll On
Each month there is a recipe for a roll-on, and this month’s roll-on is for keeping the bugs away during the summer! Roll-on bottle blends are great for keeping in my purse or car. This recipe requires items from the bonus box – fractionated coconut oil and a glass roller.
I don’t know about you, but mosquitos LOVE me. I mean, I can go outside for 10 minutes and come in with 50 bites – I’m not kidding. So, having this Bug Off roller is awesome for me! Normally I’m the annoying one at the picnic with her bug spray, but now I’ll just smell good. 🙂
These glass rollers come with steel roller balls – which are much better than the plastic ones you sometimes see. To use, roll onto the pulse points (wrists, neck, back of knees), but make sure to test on the back on the hand first.
Simply Earth ‘Surf’s Up’ Diffuser Blend Recipe Card

Diffuser blend recipes are included every month, and if you are a fan, the recipe includes a master blend you can make to have on hand. The recipe card gives you the ingredient amounts you need to put directly into you diffuser, as well as for a master blend. The bonus box includes (6) 5 ml bottles so that you can make master blends each month if you choose.
Well, I live in Southern California right next to the beach, so of course this is a must-have master blend! It is a wonderful citrus blend that makes my whole house smell like summer, and keeps it odor-free. Love it!
Simply Earth Garden Spray Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Garden Spray
It doesn’t get any easier than this: A spray bottle + water + a few drop of Lemongrass Essential Oil, and BOOM! You have a lovely spray for your herbs and garden plants that keep pests away. If you want to get rid of weeds in your garden, replace the water with vinegar!
Simply Earth Peppermint Infused Oil Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Simply Earth Peppermint Infused Oil
This recipe uses the Almond Oil from the Big Bonus Box, plus a container supplied by you.
NOTE: I used a glass jar that I got on Amazon; it was not part of Simply Earth. It works great, but you can use any sealable container.
This was easy-peasy, you simply crush up the peppermint leaves with your fingers and drop them into the almond oil.
For full infusion, you set your container in the sun for 4-5 weeks, shaking periodically. Once the time is up, you can use cheesecloth to filter the oil through into a new container, and then you have infused peppermint oil to use for new projects!
Simply Earth Summer Lovin’ Lip Balm Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Summer Lovin’ Lip Balm
This recipe uses the beeswax and the coconut oil from the Big Bonus Box. Also, the recipe card calls for the infused peppermint oil from this month’s recipes (see above), but since I need to wait 4-5 weeks for the infusion to be complete, I substituted with the Almond Oil from the Big Bonus Box + a few drops of peppermint essential oil that I received in a previous box. It worked really well! Peppermint gives the lips a slight “plump”, so it is perfect for this old gal. Ha-ha.
I used a double boiler to melt the beeswax and coconut oil together (pictured). Double boilers are cheap and I highly recommend getting one for making balms, salves and lotions.
Pouring the melted mixture into the tubes is MUCH easier with a small funnel, if you have one!
OK, so I didn’t exactly get the mixture EVENLY poured into the balm tubes, but oh well. LOL!
Ta-Da! After the mixture completely cools, just push up from the bottom and you have a fabulous new lip balm. I am LOVING this balm; it makes my lips feel fresh, tingly and soft!
Simply Earth Citronella Floating Candle Recipe Card
Recipe Project: Citronella Floating Candle
This recipe calls for cooking oil and 3 glass containers that you must provide. I used 3 old candle holders I had; they aren’t very large, but they worked perfectly! The recipe also recommends some kind of decorative item like flowers, shells or fruit to make your candles look pretty. I used some dried baby rose buds from my garden.
I worried that my little rose buds were going to interfere with the wicks (and catch on fire) but after being saturated with oil for a bit, they sunk just enough stay out of the way. I think it turned out great!
These candles were so unique and fun to make! I’m enjoying them on my patio table at night in the backyard.
So what do you think of the June 2021 Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box? I really liked all the oils, and the recipes were easy and fun – my favorite being the floating candles! I look forward to my box each month, and I am consistently impressed by the quality and usability of this subscription at such a reasonable price. The total (current) retail value of the recipe box is $59.94, (not including the dried peppermint leaves, floating wicks, recipe cards or labels!). I think that is absolutely amazing for only $39.99! That really is a HUGE value comparatively to other essential oils out there of equal quality, and it is so handy to be able to make so many different recipes without having to buy a bunch of additional expensive ingredients.
This subscription is a great way to learn and build up an essential oil collection that isn’t so overwhelming, and the recipes are so easy & fun! IMHO you absolutely can’t go wrong if you enjoy essential oils and DIY projects.
